For those who want more, the answer is here. Featuring the same 5.6-litre big-block displacement and long list of features as the XF425, the all-new XF450 improves upon the powerful platform that changed the offshore boating game. With more charging, convenience, functionality and horsepower, the Yamaha XF450 will make a splash. |

More Charging PowerTo help meet the extreme electrical demands of today’s larger boats, the Yamaha XTO Offshore 450 features a three-phase, simultaneous charging system that delivers an incredible amount of net amps at lower rpm, where it’s needed most. Using Phase Angle Control (PAC) componentry and a super-strong magnetic field, XTO Offshore 450 models produce up to 96 net amps per engine in neutral. That’s plenty of power for today’s popular, high-demand devices like gyro stabilizers, air conditioning, sound systems and more. |
|
HIGHEST COMPRESSION RATIO IN AN OUTBOARDGet more "bang" from every spark with a 12.2:1 compression ratio: better efficiency, more power and incredible throttle response. |
EVEN MORE CHARGING POWERUsing Phase Angle Control (PAC), which adjusts the intensity of the stator’s magnetic field, XTO Offshore B models produce up to 96 net amps per engine in neutral. And since the electric steering only requires power while moving the engine, there is more power to spare while idling or trolling - when boaters need it most! |
PLASMA-FUSED SLEEVELESS CYLINDERSThis micro-textured surface is 60 percent harder than steel, yet significantly lighter and thinner, increasing displacement without increasing the size of the powerhead. Other benefits include reduced friction, faster heat transfer and improved fuel economy. |
EXTREME XTO OSTM PROPELLERSYamaha's new family of XTO OS Propellers are made to complement the torque potential of the Yamaha XTO, working as an integral part of a system to produce massive thrust in both forward and reverse. With new stainless steel material, they are also more resistant to corrosion and surface discolouration. |
MULTI-PART COWLING SYSTEMThe cowling and engine covers on the XTO are in multiple pieces for easier access to specific parts of the powerhead and midsection. These are integrated using captive fasteners and a special one-piece seal. |
IN-BANKTM EXHAUSTYamaha's exclusive In-Bank exhaust improves flow with intake tracks entering the cylinder head from both sides of the powerhead, allowing space for exhaust gases to have a direct route to the lower unit and out the propeller hub. |
THRUST-ENHANCING EXHAUST ROUTINGBelow 2500 rpm, engine exhaust is directed away from the propellers for "cleaner" water and added bite in both forward and reverse, maximizing command and control at lower speeds. |
WIDER TILT RANGEAt full extension, the XTO Offshore has been engineered to allow the entire motor and lower unit to be raised completely out of the water for added convenience. |

When you think about it, buying a boat is a little bit like getting married. After all, this is the commitment of a lifetime, and you want to feel confident you’re making the right decision! Fortunately, there are plenty of fish in the sea, and plenty of boats and pontoons to choose from here at Howell’s Marine Sales & Service. The following tips can help you narrow down the options and find your perfect match!
What kinds of activities are you interested in? This should be your guiding question when choosing a boat. If catching fish is on the agenda, you should seek out a fishing boat, with features such as rod holders and livewells. If you want to pursue the excitement of watersports, you should look for a boat with a powerful engine that can reach high speeds. Meanwhile, if you are looking to host parties on the water, a spacious luxury boat will serve you best.
That being said, there’s no need to limit yourself. There are some boats that can cover all your bases! Pontoon boats, for example, are incredibly versatile. We are passionate about pontoon boats here at Howell’s Marine Sales & Service, and we recommend them to our customers who want to get a little bit of everything out of their boating experience.
Of course, you can’t talk about buying a boat without discussing all the costs involved! The upfront cost of purchasing a boat can be pretty steep, but the long-term costs are even more important to consider. When budgeting for a boat, remember to account for all the expenses that are going to add up over time – such as fuel, maintenance, and insurance.
Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to set aside at least 10% of your boat’s total value each year for routine maintenance, and another 5% for any unexpected repairs. Meanwhile, you can expect to pay about 1.5% of the total value of your boat annually for insurance coverage.
If you have any questions about the boat buying process, you are always welcome to consult the sales team here at Howell’s Marine Sales & Service! We are always happy to assist. You can find us in Chatham, ON, near London.
